It is possible to set a collection or album as the Target Collection in Lightroom Classic on Mac/Win. We’ll look at how these can be set up and used in both applications.
Target Collection in LrC
Since it was the first collection to be created, the Target collection is configured in LrC. It is found under the Catalog panel.
The + symbol is next to the Quick Collection, which indicates that it’s currently configured as a Target Collection. You can add photos from any part of your catalog.
- Press the B key to select a photo
- Click the circle button when you hover over the grid view photo.
- Drag and drop the photo into the Quick Collection
The removal of photos from Target can be done in similar ways.
- Press the B key to select a photo
- Click on the circle button to the right of the photo
- Click on the photo to delete it
Set a collection as the target
You can also designate any other regular collection as the Target collection. This is in addition to the Quick collection. Only one collection can be the Target. It can be useful when creating your first collection, and you need another way to add photos.
Two ways exist to select a collection for the Target. You can choose to do this when creating the collection in the Create Collection dialog. When creating the collection, check the box Set as target collection.
