Lightroom Mobile Tip: Identifying and Resolving Highlight Clipping Issues

Mornin’ everybody! This morning I have a tip for you Lightroom Mobile users on how to locate the highlight clipping warning,, and how to correct the problem. Here’s how to fix it:

STEP 1:
Here’s an image where we are concerned that the highlights might be clipped (major detail loss) (spoiler:A It’s gotA Clipping Problems).

STEP 2: In Adjust, tap the Highlights, Whites or Exposure tiles (it will appear along the bottom edge of your image) to bring up the slider. Then, do a “Two finger tap and hold” directly on the slider. (As shown here, aEUR” A the two red dots are where I tapped with two fingers). The screen will show any areas of the photo that have been clipped (as shown above). Yellow areas are only clipped if you see them. Only the reds and blues are clipped. If you see parts of the image in solid white, then all channels are being clipped. And if this is an area with important details, we should fix it.

STEP THIRTY: Holding your two fingers down, drag the Highlights slide to the left (as shown above) until the screen is solid black. The clipping will be gone. If the Highlights slider doesn’t work, you may need to adjust the Whites or Exposure sliders. Both sliders have a preview of the Highlight Warning. Most of the time, the Highlights slider is all you will need.

I hope you find this helpful.

London Calling
I invite all of my UK friends to my one-day workshop aEUR”A that will be in London on the 14th July.
You can find all the details and purchase tickets by clicking this link. I will be teaching my “Lightroom Seven-Point System” during the seminar. Last year, I had a great time there with my “Shoot Like a Pro”, original seminar. If you attended the original “Shoot Like a Pro” seminar, then this one is completely different. We hope to see you in person.
