I learned this tip from UK-blogger/photographer/awesome guy Brian Worley and darn it’s a good one — it’s how to use a feature in Lightroom Classic to find out which lens (or lenses) you use the most. It’s deceptively simple to determine which lens you prefer (it must be the one you use most).
STEP 1: In Lightroom’s Library Module, in the Catalog Panel on the Left, click on “All Photos.”
STEP 2: Press the backslash [ ] key to bring up your Library Filter at the top of the thumbnail preview area. Click the Metadata tab at the top of your thumbnail preview area (circled in red below).
STEP THREEE: If it is not already selected in the column, choose “Lens”, as the header of that column (also circled in red in the image above), and the number of photos you have taken with each lens will be displayed (as seen above, my 70-200mm F/2.8 lens being my most used lens). My 14mm ultra wide angle isn’t far behind. You can click on any listing to see only the photos taken using that particular lens. Lightroom’s work behind the scenes is impressive.
Thanks, Brian! Please also check out Brian’s Guest Blog Post from April last year. As always, great stuff.
Let’s celebrate another wonderful week filled with all its possibilities and opportunities!

P.S. Thank you to the amazing folks in Indianapolis, Minneapolis and all over the country where I presented my new full-day photography seminar “The Ultimate Photography crash course” to over 450 photographers. I had a wonderful time and was delighted at the reception of my new seminar. I met so many lovely people who were passionate about Photoshop, Lightroom and photography. These are my kind of people. We are grateful for your warm welcome and gracious hospitality.
